Men's Soccer Premier Division

CIT 1. 1 CSN
CSN and CIT shared the points in a very entertaining game at CIT under lights on Wednesday night. It was CIT who went into the lead after CSN dominated most of the first half. CSN players will awake this morning wondering how they failed to convert so many chances throughout the game. CSN started the second half at blistering pace and CIT struggled to keep them at bay, with some lovely passages of play from CSN midfield and forwards. Gareth Cambridge had a great game creating opportunities and also striking the crossbar 20mins into the second half. Chris Breen was lively as always winning tackle after tackle. While Peter McCarthy, James Furlong were superb in defence. Holland and Stack were very busy getting forward on a number of occasions.
However it was LLoyd Dorgan who equalised with a rocket off his left foot which beat the CIT keeper who was man of the match for the evening. CSN created a number of chances to take all 3 points with Breen having the best chance after an individual run from just inside the opposition half only to square the ball instead of pulling the trigger. Kenny O Leary and Joe Sheehy also contributed throughout, with O Leary being involved in most offensive breaks, and Sheehy making a vital track back to intercept a clear goal chance for CIT in the dying minutes.
CSN can be delighted with their performance and intensity with which they played, but will have to convert chances in the games ahead if they wish to pick up points.
Next game is today at 2.30 with CSNs development squad at home to Pres, while the Premier team will be at home to WIT next Weds at 3pm.
