UL 3. 1 CSN - Premier South Result 8th Nov

CSN dropped 3 points in UL yesterday making it virtually impossible to finish second and qualify for a national quarter final spot. Only a 4.0 win in their final game and a 0.0 draw between CIT and UL will get them through. As WIT should go through as winners of the group CIT and WIT will play the final game with winner takes all.
It will be dissapointing for CSN as the season started brightly with a home win to UCC. However 2 draws since has left them with just 5 points, in mid table.
Yesterdays game started at a fast pace and CSN were not ready for the 6'5 height of UL centre forward. Within 15mins he had hit the net twice with 2 headers, and CSN were on the backfoot till the end of teh half. Dean Lonergan replaced Peter McCarthy while John O Dwyer replaced lloyd O Sullivan as CSN were forced into a 4.5.1 formation for the remainder of th first half.
The second half saw a much more positive CSN side dominate for long periods as CSN again changed formation pushing Gareth Cambridge into a more forward role of 4.1.3.1.1
This continious pressure soon paid off, as with 8 minutes remaining Chris Breen finished off a great move through the midfield. At 2.1 CSN pushed forward and again after some poor marking in Midfield UL broke and finished off the game to make it 3.1.
Next week will see CSN play Bray at home in round 1 of the Umbro Cup. The game is a 2pm Kick off on Wednesday 16th
