Mens Soccer Premier Division CSN 1 V WIT 1

CSN threw away 2 points after conceding a 92nd min equaliser to WIT on Wednesday evening. CSN dominated the first half but failed to convert many chances. Yet another season seems to be passing with CSN squandering the chance to finish in front of goal which may cost them a top two spot.
However any on looker would appreciate the lovely flowing football this team provides on a perfect Tramore Rd pitch, and it wasn't long before CSN carved open the WIT defence.

Lloyd Dorgan and Joe Sheehy were causing problems down both wings while Ross Condon and Kenny O Leary were tormenting the WIT defenders. It was Condon who eventually opened up the scoring 5 mins before the break after nice build up play from a quick free kick inside the CSN half. Passes were interchanged between Chris Breen and Gareth Cambridge before Condon steered the ball past the keeper into the bottom left corner to put them deservedly into the lead.
Any spectator may have felt CSN had so much possession and chances in the first half that it may have ended 3 or 4 nil, however with the wind in the second half CSN seemed to completely take the foot off the pedal, offering WIT every chance to get back into the game. To their credit WIT never gave up and actually dominated the second half, creating a number of chances to score, but for some fine defending.
However as WIT pushed on and went in search of an equalizer with CSN failing to match their spirit.

In extra time, a controversial tackle saw WIT win the ball on the edge of the CSN box. A tame shot on the edge of the box was met by keeper Shane Wright only to see it spin out of his hands and over his shoulder. As he scrambled to stop it the ball it rolled into the net to the disgust of the CSN sideline. 1 minute later the referee blew the full time whistle.
CSN will next take the trip to UL in two weeks in while a win is a must if they wish to progress out of the group.
